Return to the Church...

I recently felt the need to return to the (Roman) Catholic Church. Here are some of the reasons:
  1. My faith needed uplifting and revitalizing
  2. My children need a good spiritual role model(s)
  3. My husband inspires me and I want to help him in his journey
  4. I don't want my mom to feel like my 12 year Catholic school education was wasted
  5. I need God in my life to guide me in the right direction in ALL aspects of my life
  6. I feel the Holy Spirit in me and I want to share it with everyone (without acting like the typical "Holy-Roller")
  7. Fellowship is necessary in my life, particularly those who understand and share my faith

After straying from my born-and-bread faith, it was my non-Catholic husband who inspired me to take another look. His ever increasing faith has affected me in the most positive way! He is interested in going through the RCIA (Rites of Christian Initiation of Adults) to become Catholic. He will receive his baptism (as he was not baptized as a child), along with other sacraments including Communion and Marriage.

Since I was a little girl, I have wanted to get married, raise children and be a homemaker. Although I have not (yet) been blessed by giving birth my my own biological child, I have been extremely blessed to have the opportunity to raise my two step-children on a (mostly) daily basis. They are awesome and I don't know what I would do without them. They definitely keep me grounded and bring me immeasurable joy...even when they drive me crazy! I am constantly amazed by them and I am lucky to have them as part of my life.

I look at Catholicism as a gift, as a privilege and as a blessing. God allows and encourages all of us to take part in His "Good News" and His extreme love. I am ready to re-receive it! God is Good. Amen.

Spiral Square / Daisy Square

Here I am again to update my blog...the one I continue to forget about. For some reason, I have no problem remembering to update my Facebook on a consistent basis but I can not remember to update my blog! Grrr...

Well, I have finished a few sqaures lately. I will get pics up as soon as I remember. I love when Theresa and I get to work on some crochet together....that is when we get adventurous!

The first square (the one that is probably burning your retinas right about now...lol) is a spiral granny square I got from HERE. **NOTE: Be sure to read the comments for the correct instructions for round 5 if you decide to try your hand at this one! It's easier than you think!

The pattern for the second squares (with the Daisies) are from HERE. The purple one was done by Theresa and the pink one was done by me! They came out awesome and look 100x better in person. This pattern is an awesome one and the only "cost" of this pattern is to send at least one finished square to Krystal for her charity afghans. What a wonderful idea!!

Learning to sew...

So I decided to learn how to sew...again. I know the basics but I want to be able to make things I can actually wear that don't look "home made"!! I made the cutest little drawstring pouch today out of t-shirt sleeves. It definitely came out much better than I expected. I can't think of anything to put in there, but luckily, I'll be giving it to Misty (assuming she wants it) and SHE can figure out what to use it for! lol

Well...just wanted to update my blog. My 2010 resolution (as if I normally make one....lol) is to update my blog more often and to perhaps attempt a vlog (video blog). We'll see how that goes...
