For some reason I keep forgetting that I have a blog over here...lol.

Oh, the pain...

I actually have time to do some crocheting and what happens?? I must have slept wrong (or maybe for too long...lol) and I got a terrible crick on my neck. It's making me have to go slower and stop half way through every row for a few minutes to take a break! I guess on the positive side...I HAVE to go slower therefore my stitches should be more accurate...lol. Hopefully, I'll be able to get those last few rows I had to frog done again! Happy days....

Grrr...

I just had to frog (undo) like 7 rows on my current graph-ghan. I was following the pattern pretty well but I ran into trouble when I realized that when I was typing up my pattern, I skipped a row!! Dammit! Oh well....back on the bandwagon so I can finish this. The good thing is that I really am enjoying myself even with this unfortunate event AND I have a great group on my CAL (crochet-a-long) at the 'ville (crochetville.org)! I hope it comes out nearly as well as I envision it. We'll see...

I'll post another pic of my progress when I make some time to whip out the camera and the tripod (since I apparently don't have a very steady hand).

Have a fantabulous day!!

Graph ghan...

I FINALLY figured out how to do color change (I think)! I haven't had a whole lot of time to work on it and it's slow going since I have to change colors so often...but I AM making progress. You won't be able to see what it is until I am well on the way with making it. Here is a preview...this is what I have so far...

So far, so good...

So far, my graph ghan is coming along great. I say that as if I have already gotten to the difficult part, but I can assure you I have not...lol. I imagine by this time in a few days, I will be tearing my hair out! Good luck to me!

First graph ghan project...

I finally found a place (Hobby Lobby) that had an afghan hook longer than 10". It's not a lot longer, but I found a Susan Bates 14" hook...on top of that, it was only $2.68!! I just can't make myself pay $20 (including shipping) and wait 3 weeks for a longer, handmade one at the moment. Maybe if I'm REALLY good this year, I will get an 18" one from MoEz...and of course those are only available on the internet...lol. I tried my hand at making one out of wood, but I didn't get it sanded enough and it kept getting caught on my yarn. I didn't sand it more because I was so into getting started on my project, I just made due with the 14" hook I found. We'll see how it comes out and I will try to keep updated pictures on it as I go along.

So far, I have 12 rows done (in between laundry, dishes and the kids talking to me) so I think I am doing alright. There's a great CAL (crochet-a-long) on crochetville.org and it has kept me even more excited! I love all the folks on there...they are great cheerleaders at those times you are feeling a little discouraged. Anyways...here is a picture of my project so far...

So today, I am trying my hand at learning to do a new (to me) crochet technique called Tunisian crochet (or afghan stitch). I just am not understanding how to do a graph for it. Time to ask for help!

I just went to the craft store to see if I could find the longer hooks for it and maybe I can find a book about it at Half Price Books. I LOVE that place....but I think that's for another day...

Taa Daa...

Here I am...finally made my very own blog. I plan to use this place to show off my crochet (and various other crafty) progress/projects.

I hope you enjoy your time rummaging through my little part of the net....a place I like to call "Jeeplette's Magic Circle: a slip-stitch in time"....my virtual home.

Note: I would advise anyone who reads my blog to be aware that there will be LOTS of pictures.

"Plarn"??

Ok...so I learned about this new ingredient (for lack of a better word) to crochet with. It's called "plarn"....basically, it's plastic yarn you can make from shopping bags. Click here to see how to make plarn. I use methd #3 which is a bit confusing at first, but sooo much easier once you get the hang of it!!

Anyways...here is a photo of my first plarn project. It's a waterproof water bottle holder.

I made this with my own pattern...if you can call it that! I got ideas from several places and made it the way I wanted it to look (sorta).

My first halter...

Here is a photo of the first halter I crocheted.

("Slice of Sweet Halter" pattern by Happy Hooker from crochetville.org)

Believe it or not, it took me less than a day. I did have to take lots of breaks (my hands kept getting tired) but I finally got it done! It looks sooo cute and came out better than I expected. *cabbage patch dance* Go me...Go me....
